A lot of Game of Thrones fans were disappointed with this week’s episode titled, ‘The Broken Man’ mostly because it did seem like a filler episode that basically spent the hour setting everything up for the remainder of the season. Having said that, there were still so many good moments throughout the hour – and one very special appearance from someone who we assumed was left for dead. Also Lady Olenna absolutely demolished Cersei with the greatest monologue of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Tyrion: Dead or Alive?

So I don’t want to be the source of all spoilers, but come on guys. It’s episode 8 of the fourth season you should be watching these episodes ON THE IMMEDIATE. Every second counts until the end.

In a typical Game of Thrones jaw dropping ending, the Prince of Dorne aka The Red Viper aka Prince Oberyn lost the battle against Ser Gregor “The Mountain” in a grueling battle that determined the fate of Tyrion Lannister. At first everyone’s thinking the same thing, how can this little Prince of Dorne fight the huge and covered in armour Ser Gregor Clegane? Well, surprisingly, Oberyn was more confident, he was fast and doing twirls around The Mountain. For the most part of the fight it looked like Oberyn was about to win. He even shoved his spear right through Gregor’s belly, but Oberyn let his guard down too quickly…and this happened.

Now the big question is, what will happen to Tyrion? Is this the end of the road for him? I feel like this can’t be the end but with Game of Thrones you just never know- we’ll have to wait and see. For now, let’s take it to the polls!

Game of Thrones: POLL

So this Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones didn’t have any murders or weddings or any weddings with murders, but it did reveal a whole lot. After years of thinking the Lannister’s were behind Jon Arryn’s death, Littlefinger reveals that it was him who convinced Lysa to poison her husband. Wow- are you telling me Littlefinger basically starting everything that led to everything that’s happened in the show? Pretty much. And now I’m just talking to myself.Bran-Stark-and-Jon-Snow-bran-stark-24487536-1280-720

I’m not going to get into everything that went down, because frnakly there’s better Game of Thrones Recaps out there: Click here for EW’s but I will offer up another GoT Poll.

If you were Brandon Stark, what would you have done in that moment? Choose your destiny, or choose to call out your brother and have him protect you until the end of time? I don’t know this is a hard one.

Game of Thrones: George R.R. Martin Explains Red Wedding

With the season finale of Game of Thrones only a few days away, the author George R.R Martin talks about the ‘Red Wedding’ episode last night on Conan.

Let me just point out that this man is a perfect hybrid of a crazy person and genius. For someone to create a fantasy world like he has, with all the characters that he’s created…and killed…no normal person can put this thing together. He’s a genius…a crazy genius, and we should be lucky that he’s still alive to explain some of his unnatural choices.

Fans of the HBO series are still recovering from last week’s ‘Red Wedding’ episode where Martin created a beautiful wedding…then decided to kill our favourite cast members! Including a direwolf! Conan asks Martin why he would do such a thing?!

Martin, “I always like unexpected things. I always like the suspense to be real,” Martin explained. “I want my readers and I want my viewers to be afraid when my characters are in danger. I want them to be afraid to turn the next page because the character may not survive it.”

Although it seems like Martin wanted us all to suffer minor strokes last Sunday, he still feels bad for the decisions he put down on paper many years ago.

Martin, “It’s one thing to kill these characters when they’re just people on paper, but when you actually meet the actors who portray them and you know you’re making people unemployed, it does bring up a certain amount of guilt feelings,” Martin told O’Brien.

…”At one point I had a drink in my hand and I’m talking to three of the cast members in a corner, and we’re laughing and having a good time,” Martin said. “Then I had this realization that all three of these perfectly nice people were going to be dead before it was over. It’s sort of awkward when you’re dealing with people who in essence you’ve already fired, but I of course fired them 10 years ago, before I knew them,” Martin continued. “So there’s some mitigation there.”

Game of Thrones: Season Finale

I haven’t written much about Game of Thrones and all of its glory, because really no amount of words can sum up how amazing this show is, and how it has been a game changer for all cable network television shows. We all know HBO is a network with some big hitter’s, (Boardwalk Empire, Sex and the City, Entourage)…but Game of Thrones has definitely set the bar for all upcoming shows and shows that are on air, seriously I don’t think anything could top Whitewalkers and Dragons, I mean really.

For me, my Game of Thrones obsession started with everyone in my circle of friends and family telling me how amazing this show was, and that I needed to see it (especially being a film student). Granted, I hate that whole era of medieval times, and anything with shields and swords, but I fell in love with GOT from the first episode. I watched the first season in probably under a month, and recently caught up with Season 2 in under two weeks! Yes, clearly I’m obsessed.

Anyways, the show is so impressive, their sets are so magnificent and extraordinary, you sort of lose your sense of reality through the episode, feeling like you’re actually there, experiencing Jeffrey breaking up with Sansa, or you’re totally s******* your pants sitting with the fat guy watching the white walkers walk right by you!

I don’t want to write any of the spoilers, and really this show is so intricate, if you haven’t watched it from Episode 1 of Season 1, you’re likely to never grasp the true meaning of anything. Trust me, everyone needs to see this, or everyone that has an obsession with film and television, it’s just groundbreaking, and it definitely will go down in our history books as one of the best shows ever made. (Right alongside Vampire Diaries, of course)

It really sucks Season 2 is over, it was just getting interesting, the beginning of this season started off a little slow, but towards the end it picked up, it’s a shame there are only 10 episodes- we’ll have to wait another year for Season 3!
